We took a tuk tuk to China Town and kinda just saw where the roads took us. There's loads of crazy alleys where all the locals hang out swapping produce. It's interesting and so different from our culture; you don't get caught up with other tourists which is nice to get away from. The buildings are packed up so high in some alleys, it becomes hard to see day light.
One thing I love about Asia is the fruit and veg produce, it's all so amazing. Definitely try some fresh fruit or fruit juices which are available in any direction you take.
After China Town we hopped into tuk tuk to head towards Pat Pong night market (7pm-12). This part of Bangkok is quite sleezy and is full of clubs called "Pussy College" and "Pussy House". It's full of gorgeous Thai women, (and Lady Boys) in clear hooker heels and glitter tank tops. We got there pretty early thought so luckily missed the "pumping night life".
Pat Pong market is so big, you end up walking for miles. You think it's on this one road but turns out that it spills onto a few other streets. The market sells your usual junk like tacky tshirts (a baby smoking a joint on one) and very cheap, very fake, Louis Vuitton bags. There are a few things worth buying, such a hippie pants (they will become your new best friend) and fake havanias, you end up living in flip flops day and night. Again, you have to haggle, we got a pair of earrings down 800TB to 150TB. If you're not willing to pay the price, walk away and they'll drop the price pronto.
After the market we headed for some food and found this really cute street cafe where all these Thais were eating. It's always a good place to eat if all the Thais are eating there. We had some Pho, (broth, noodles, pork, 'erbs and some greenery) best Pho I've had in a while. This cost us 40TB and we also shared some of the best pork skewers at 10TB (25p!!!). I think I'm in love with Thai food, aaaah it's all so so good and fresh dayyyyum.
After we went to the red light district. I felt really uncomfortable because it's so disheartening for women. Around 150-200 women are lined up the street in pretty much nothing other than heels. It's so sad because they all stand there just waiting to be picked and most of them are drop dead gorgeous. However on our flight to Chiang Mai, we met a guy called Callum who was on vacation from the military. He told us a cute story about his friend brought a prostiute for 3000TB (£60) but liked her so much that he took her out for dinners and saw her every night for the two weeks he was there. When his friend left apparently they both cried and took photos of each other which is really sweet. However yeah, still, it's not at all right.
