Last day in Pai - Thailand

Finally catching up with all of this yay. I'm
most definitely not currently listening to Micheal Bubles Christmas album while on this night bus in the middle of Laos. Hmm.

So, brunch again at Mr Bigs Small cafe and we share a breakfast baguette (best call ever). There's loads of time to kill for our bus doesn't leave till 6.30. We check out and decide to bike it up to the gigantic Buddha in the hills. We were running low on petrol so could only make it half way and had to trekk up the hill to get there. This was a massive disappointment. You can't even go near the Buddha yet alone get a good picture of it. There's a temple underneath which has a good view of Pai but the Buddha itself is a no go. Not quite sure whether it's worth going through the exhaustion of walking up the hill but hey.

Today was supposed to be the day that we were going to go to "Fluid", a swimming pool with a bar and really good tuna steak salads but we had to cancel those plans since it was chucking it down for the most part. Instead, we returned our bike and sat at a coffee shop with 2 pots of tea and a packet of hobnobs (oh so very English).

Our bus left that evening and was very challenging on the stomach. We were driving from Pai to Chang Khong, a town on the border of Thailand and Laos. The bus journey was genuinely horrible, it turns out that the roads are as dangerous as they look and travelling in the dark and through a mini typhoon didn't really help. We arrived at our accomadation, "Boom House" 2hrs later (2am instead of 12am). Everything was basic but we had to be up in 4hrs so we'd gone past caring.
